Become a GM
Share your love of roleplaying games with other TCTC attendees!
How to become a GM at TCTC
Every event must be submitted for approval. We will review your submission(s) and either approve or reject them. Regardless of the outcome, we will get back to you!
Each game will be assigned a timeslot and a table location within the RPG Room.
We communicate with our GMs primarily through Discord and email. You can join the TCTC Discord server here, and message Christoph (@xophra) to be given the GM role.
The setup
Scheduled games
Most games in the RPG Room are scheduled in 4-hour blocks, and players can reserve seats in advance when event ticketing opens in February. If your game isn’t full before TCTC, we’ll pull players from the RPG Standby line to fill it up.

On Demand games
To help satisfy growing demand for day-of games, we’ve introduced On Demand games. These are shorter 2-3 hour intro sessions, casual games, and family-friendly games.
On Demand games do NOT have advance sign-ups on Cardboard Connect. Instead, players will walk up on the day and join the RPG Standby line, then choose from the available sessions listed on the Cardboard Connect app and on the RPG Room whiteboard.

The RPG Room
The RPG Room is divided into three sections, each surrounded by acoustic curtains to reduce background noise.
Each of our 40+ tables is big enough to seat 8 players, but set up for a comfortable 6 to give the GM more space. Tables come with tablecloths, safety tools, and power for GMs that use tech. Unfortunately, wi-fi is not available.
Your responsibilities
If selected to GM at TCTC, we ask that you do the following:
- Prepare a fun 3-4 hour game session that matches the session you described in your application.
- Check in at the RPG Room entrance at least 15 minutes before your game’s scheduled start time.
- Consider offering pregenerated characters for your players if your game’s character creation is complex and/or time-consuming so they can jump right in and start playing.
- Ensure that content and behaviour adhere to our Code of Conduct at all times.
Because you are hosting a one-shot for strangers and don’t have the time to run a Session Zero, please be extremely cautious of the content you cover. Safety tools will be available at each table, but please use your best judgement in planning your session; we strongly recommend keeping content to a PG-13 level.
Why should you run a roleplaying game at TCTC?
We are always looking for volunteers who want to share their passion and excitement for tabletop RPGs!
