Scheduling

When will I be able to save my seat for the Catan qualifier, roleplaying game session, or other event?

  • Mid-Late January – event schedule available for internal review by organizers and volunteers
  • Early February – event schedule finalized, published on TCTC site
  • February 13 – patrons able to sign up for 3 sessions
  • February 20 – patrons get another 3 sessions / non-patrons get 3 sessions
  • February 27 – all remaining seats open for signups; no restrictions in place – waitlist temporarily available
  • March 6 – waitlist dropped

Why is the waitlist being dropped on March 6?
The waitlist is useful during the initial signup period as people fine-tune their schedules. But during convention weekend, it ends up adding to confusion and no-shows. That’s why we’ll switch to in-person waitlists at the event.

Won’t Patrons take all the seats for the high-demand events during early signup?
Almost certainly not. We have offered Patron tickets with advanced signups for 4 years now, and only once has a game session filled up due to Patrons. That’s one event out of hundreds, across multiple years. So don’t worry – there’s a LOT of fun stuff for everyone to do at TCTC!

Tickets

Can I pick up my ticket ahead of time?
All pre-purchased tickets can only be picked up at the door.

If I don’t have a ticket, can I still attend the used game sale or silent auction?
No, you are required to have a valid ticket.

Can kids attend?
Absolutely! Children and youth are very welcome at TCTC.

  • Children 12 and under are free to attend with a parent/guardian who has purchased a TCTC ticket.
  • For safety reasons, there is a limit to 2 child tickets per adult ticket.
  • Children 12 and under must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian who is a registered attendee of TCTC.
  • There are a limited number of free child tickets available. Regular tickets purchased for children must still follow the attending child policy.
  • Youth aged 13 to 17 must have a parent or guardian in the convention space at all times. All parents/guardians must be registered attendees of TCTC.

I can no longer attend. Can I get a refund?
We do not issue refunds for tickets. We are happy to transfer your ticket to someone else though!

Hosting a board game

What does hosting a game entail?
You should be comfortable enough with the game to teach others. You don’t need to be an expert, and you do have the rule book you can verify rules. You can just teach the game and hangout with the players, or you can teach and play too!

Do I bring my own games or can I borrow these from the library during my sessions?
Either option works! If you want to borrow our copy, make sure you verify it’s in the library. If the “Code” starts with “PL” that game is owned by TCTC. If the “Code” starts with “PE” that means it has been borrowed from a personal collection, so email us to make sure it will be at the convention. Make sure you go to the lending library first thing after you register, to ensure they have it set aside for you around the time you need it.

My sessions are back to back. Just in case, should I space them further apart?
When you submit a session, you pick the window you want it to start and the duration of the game. We will always put them at least 30 min apart as games can run long, plus setup/cleanup can take time, and everything else. If you want a larger gap between them, just leave it in the comments of the submission form.
