Types of games
Scheduled games
Scheduled games are the classic TCTC RPG experience: 3-4 hour sessions from a variety of game systems, with seats reserved in advance when event scheduling opens in February.
Drop-In games
Drop-In games (previously called On Demand games) were introduced at TCTC 2026 to help satisfy the growing demand for day-of games. These are shorter 2-3 hour intro sessions, casual games, and family-friendly games.
Drop-In games do not have sign-ups in advance. Instead, you can join a Drop-In game by joining the RPG Standby queue at the convention. Available sessions will be listed on the Cardboard Connect app and on the RPG Room whiteboard.
About the RPG Room
The RPG Room is divided into three sections, each surrounded by acoustic curtains to reduce background noise.
Each of our 40+ tables is big enough to seat 8 players, but set up for a comfortable 6 to give your GM a bit more space.
The 8 Rules of the RPG Room
Players and GMs alike are expected to adhere to the following rules:
- Don’t be a jerk
- Notify the RPG Team when you arrive
- Commit to your game
- Don’t eat at the table
- Use the safety tools, but please don’t steal them
- Don’t disturb your neighbours
- End on time
- Leave the table clean
